The video describes the Burnt Toast Theory as “the theory that if you burn your toast in the morning (something challenging happens), the time you spend making another toast may have saved you from a car accident. Or maybe it makes you late to a meeting, but as you’re walking in, you meet someone that will be so special in your life. And you wouldn’t have met them otherwise. It’s kind of like the universe always has your back. Love this for dealing with failure too. Didn’t get the job? Trust the process. Everything happens for a reason, something even better is on the way.”
Preparation
I’ve been seeing the quote delayed not denied a lot. It reminds me when one of my close friends in college would always tell me just wait, it’s delay not denial. That saying helped me to stay patient but as I’ve gotten older and matured I’ve realized that it’s not delay or denial, it’s preparation. I believe in divine timing and in divine timing it will come when each part is ready. Remember the Burnt Toast Theory, you may think you’re running late but things are happening so that everything and everyone is in the right place at the right time for things to work out for you.
Everything happens for a reason in divine timing. I believe that it’s not delay or denial, it’s preparation.
The thing I like about the Burnt Toast Theory is that the person isn’t just sitting around. They are preparing themselves. They got up, got dressed, and are getting themselves food to start the day. So if you feel like you’re in a “delay” phase what can you do? Prepare yourself.
The same way you would pick out an outfit days before a big day, or charge your phone the night before a full day, or fill up the tank to prepare for a busy week do things to prepare yourself for whatever your goal is.

Mimic the schedule that would be similar to the one you’re reaching to obtain.
Prepare your space
Stock the fridge and cabinets.
Clean up.
Toss out expired or unneeded things.
Rest
It’s not delayed. It’s not denied. It’s preparation.
What steps do you need to take to prepare yourself?
Maybe you’re prepared but what you’re reaching for isn’t so stay consistent, learn to stay energized and enthusiastic in this season of preparation.
This was something that I needed to hear for myself so if it helps someone else, even better.
Remember: when things don’t go exactly as you planned on your timeline it’s preparing you for something really cool to happen at the right time, with the right people, in the right place.
